SOFTWARE DESIGN

I start with the requirement, the existing product and the real constraints. I shape a solution across architecture, data, APIs and interfaces, weighing trade-offs, risks and delivery time.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

I build and improve features across the product, from user experience to frontend, backend and data. I also identify opportunities to improve the user experience and make the product more useful and easier to use, then bring concrete proposals to the people responsible for it.

CLOUD & INTEGRATION

I assess and choose cloud services and integration approaches for applications, defining how SaaS products, on-premise systems and cloud components communicate with each other. I also troubleshoot when an issue crosses application and infrastructure boundaries.

SENIOR FULL-STACK ENGINEER

I work on the product end to end: I analyse how features fit the existing system, choose pragmatic technical approaches, then implement and test the solution. I use AI to support research, implementation and refactoring, while technical decisions, validation and accountability remain mine. I also bring product improvements into the discussion when I see ways to make the product more useful and easier to use. Examples of recent work include:

  • PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTSI implemented configurable server-side pagination for large datasets, avoiding full-table loading that could slow or freeze the browser during other work. I also introduced configurable concurrency handling for shared work areas, preventing inconsistent states when multiple users update the same data.
  • LEGACY INTEGRATIONI contributed to bringing legacy work areas into the new React frontend, allowing new and existing parts of the product to work together while replacement happens incrementally.
  • CLOUD DELIVERYWhen the DevOps lead had limited capacity, I took ownership of the product test infrastructure, resolving incomplete configuration and AWS issues to make the environment functional again and unblock work on the bridge and new frontend.
  • CUSTOMER ENVIRONMENT INTEGRATIONI am co-developing a gRPC bridge between the legacy SaaS and components deployed in customer environments, designed to access customer databases without direct inbound connectivity.
  • AI PRODUCT INTEGRATIONI designed an initial approach for AI integration: MCP tools, a constrained LLM decision loop, and JSON Schema response contracts that the product can validate and handle predictably.

MID-LEVEL FULL-STACK ENGINEER

Built and improved enterprise systems, working directly with clients on data flows, performance issues and operational requirements. Examples include:

  • TELECOM DATA PIPELINEI developed the Spring Batch pipeline for a telecommunications operator, processing around 800,000 to 1 million call-detail records per day. It parses binary ASN.1 files, matches related records across consecutive files, validates the data, and generates CSV output for SFTP delivery.
  • PRODUCTION TROUBLESHOOTINGIn a separate enterprise application, I diagnosed recurring nightly failures during the daily server restart: cache initialisation kept loading data for around 30 minutes until the Java heap was exhausted. I removed data that was never used from the initialisation flow, resolving the crashes and restoring normal startup.

JUNIOR FULL-STACK ENGINEER

Built and maintained an ERP supporting project approval, material allocation, workforce and purchase-order workflows for an offshore engineering company. Examples include:

  • COUCHBASE PERFORMANCEI refactored existing code paths that would otherwise become excessively slow to retrieve Couchbase documents directly by ID through key-value lookups. I also added indexes to long-running queries; queries that could take 8-9 minutes or longer completed in about 20-40 seconds.
  • BULK EXCEL IMPORTSI reworked large Excel imports that previously loaded whole files into memory. Batching and bounded parallel processing improved throughput while keeping CPU and memory use within an acceptable range.
